Our Pastor

Rev. Michael Fredericks, B.A., M.Div.

“I am from the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia. Prior to accepting the call to Perth-Andover, I studied at Acadia Divinity College and youth pastored at the church I grew up in – Aylesford Baptist. In 2006, I married my beautiful wife Julia and on August 8th, 2009 we had our first child – a daughter, Ruthie. On October 16th, 2011 we added a boy to the family – Ezra. I really love my wife, and I really love my kids.

Pastor Michael Fredericks, wife Julia, Ruthie & Ezra (Feb 2012)

As a pastor, what I love the most is preaching and teaching to help draw people into a deeper understanding of God, His word, and ultimately into a closer relationship with Him. I consider myself evangelical, theologically conservative, and one who upholds the authority of Scripture. As a Christian, I rely on the grace, love and patience of God. While I think I fit well as a Baptist, my identity is first and foremost in Jesus Christ, not in a denominational label. In 2008, I had the amazing privilege of spending a month in Kenya with Canadian Baptist Ministries. Through this, God gave me a heart for the poor and needy. I now understand that part of what it means to be the Church is responding to those in need, both in distant lands and in our own community. Living out the gospel ought to happen more outside the walls of the church building than inside.

One of my greatest interests is music. As an undergrad student at St.FX University I played drums for and travelled with “Life Support” an ECMA and Juno-Award nominated Christian worship band. I also like to play guitar, lead worship, and write and record my own songs. I was the worship leader for Rally in the Valley, and have written many southern & country gospel songs for the gospel band “Sonlight”… All glory to God.

I also enjoy skiing, hiking, and Apple computers. I am nerdy and not ashamed.

Please know that you’re always welcome at the Perth-Andover Baptist Church. Our sunday morning services are at 11:00am. Sunday School for kids and adults starts at 9:45am during the school year.”
