Rev Michael Fredericks

Rev. Michael Fredericks, B.A.(StFX), M.Div.(Acadia).

Michael, Julia, Ruthie, Ezra, Simon, Ben, and Caleb Fredericks.

I grew up in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, where I spent my early years listening to my dad’s vinyl, playing drums, making movies with my friends, and working in orchards.

I was born again by faith in Christ when I was around 9 years old. During my years in university at StFX my childhood faith became my own, as I fully surrendered my life’s plans to God and began to sense a call to full-time pastoral ministry.

I married my beautiful wife Julia in 2006, and in 2007 I began studying for the pastorate at Acadia Divinity College. Julia and I have five kids – Ruthie, Ezra, twins Simon and Benjamin, and Caleb. They are the greatest joys of my life.

My passions in ministry are in the areas of preaching, discipleship (helping people become more fully devoted followers of Jesus), global and local missions, community outreach, music, and leading the church into the future.

I believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is central to our identity as a church. I believe that the Bible is God’s Word and I uphold its authority as eternal Truth and its wisdom to guide our lives.

In 2008, I had the amazing privilege of spending a month in Kenya with Canadian Baptist Ministries. This experience opened my eyes and my heart to the broken world around me. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus in practical ways every day as we love our neighbours.

One of my loves in life is music. As an undergrad student at St.FX University I played drums for and travelled with “Life Support” an ECMA and Juno-Award nominated Christian worship band. I also like to play guitar, lead worship, and write and record my own songs. I was the worship leader for Rally in the Valley (NS), and grew up playing southern gospel and bluegrass gospel music with my dad in a band called Sonlight.

I also enjoy camping, watching movies (Star Wars), listening to podcasts, board games, and Apple products. I can probably fix your computer or your sound system.

We came to Perth-Andover in 2010 and we have fallen in love with this village, its people, and especially our church. We LOVE our church! We think you’ll love it too. Please know that you’re always welcome to join us for a worship service whether you’ve tried church before or its all brand new. We are regular people like you, with hang ups of our own, just trying to support each other as we seek to live for Jesus, by His grace. Join us on the journey.
